Dimitrija Čupovski

Dimitrija Čupovski is one of the most representative creators of the Macedonian national ideas. He started his education in Sofia, where he collaborated with Krste Petkov Misirkov, who is actually one of the most significant Macedonian reformers. He has lived in Russia since 1898 till the end of his life. Čupovski dedicated all his life to the Macedonian national cause, lead by the ideas of Macedonian independence. He was president of the Macedonian scientific and literary association, which published the magazine ‘Makedonski Glas’ (Macedonian Voice). Čupovski died in Leningrad (present-day St. Petersburg) in 1940, and his remains were replaced in Macedonia in 1991.
